Does your area have regular meetings yet for Pickens Plan? If not, I want you to know that ours does and you are welcome to come to any of them. To get information and directions, just go to the Events Tab and look for District FL-11
We arrange guest speakers from the energy industry and political figures from every level of government. For our meeting on August 13th we have "David Gammon" from Progress Energy's Renewable Energy Contracts department and on the following month we have booked "Mark Sharpe" of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners.
Have a great week,
District FL-11 Leader
Please stop by and visit our TWO newest 100CLUB members. We are lucky to have such hard working and determined folks on the team!
1. Jack Costantino has brought over 122 new members onboard, and can be seen online frequently encouraging others to bring new members to Pickens Plan. He is also co-leader of his congressional district.
2. Gerry Kempen also has over 120 new supporters. I visited him today, at his very nice Liquor store, "Good Spirits" in Middletown, RI to thank him. Gerry's supporters put us over the top. RI-01 reached the 500 goal today - Inauguration Day. Yippee!
When you have an opportunity, I would like to hear more about your current activities, background, etc. Also, I'd like to talk with you about the possibilitiy of working together on a new group I just started as Editor, BOOK PROJECT #1: GLOBAL VOICES: Stories/Ideas on Why We Need Renewable Energy and The Pickens Plan NOW. What experience do you have in authorship/editing? I am a published author/editor of a book and articles. You can find more info on my page.
Hope you are enjoying your day. Looking forward to talking further.

9.20.08. TIED UP WITH FINANCIAL CRISIS. Sorry I have not been around to respond to e-mails and comments. Due to financial crisis, am quite busy at present in my firm (part of my job is examining and then explaining economic developments to financial advisors and clients). Will try to devote some time to PP when financial crisis subsides, perhaps in a week or two. GLAD TO SEE ALL THE IMPROVEMENTS ON THE PICKENS PLAN SITE, just from a quick glance. Thanks to all, and to Kim and Lyn for the updates below. Ron
I know you are very busy, bit I will continue to keep you in the loop, so you can pick up where you left off when you are able.
I have started the 100CLUB, for folks who fax in 100 or more signed pledges. I have had a fantastic response, even pulling people out of the embers of inactivity. This could send us to the moon in terms of total support numbers for Boone's plan.
Please post it, blog it and email it if you can. Also, any ideas on how to post a "flag" on the pages of 100CLUB members?
I was thinking I would just start a group- and post a master list! Then the member woudl have that group listed on their page. Only 100Clubbers could join. Is this possible? You know my technology limitations!
Best to you always! Still miss your steady hand on the tiller.
Mel just doesn't get it. This goes against everything we are fighting for. Drilling is not the answer.
MARTINEZ: “GANG OF 10” PROPOSAL IS WRONG FOR U.S.
September 12, 2008 - WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) today issued the following statement regarding the pending “Gang of 10” proposal that is expected to be brought up for consideration next week during the Senate’s debate on overhauling U.S. energy policy.
Senator Martinez said:
“I am for more domestic exploration. We need to drill for oil in ANWR and the OCS. We need to start taking advantage of the vast supplies of oil shale in the West. We need to do all of these things in conjunction with conservation and developing alternative energy supplies like nuclear, clean coal, bio fuels, and renewable resources.
“The ‘Gang of 10’ as it has been presented falls far short of meeting our nation’s energy needs and instead threatens to raise the price of fuel at a time when Americans are already paying record high prices. Worse yet, the proposal blocks states like Florida from determining their own fate as exploration is concerned. Florida in particular is harmed by this proposal because it walls off production except for in the most sensitive environmental and military training areas.
“The time for patchwork solutions is past. The time for political posturing is over. The American people are overwhelmed with the prices at the pump and they demand a comprehensive solution. The best alternative on the table right now is S. 3202, the Gas Price Reduction Act. S. 3202 is a balanced approach that will help lower fuel costs in the near term and give America the energy independence it needs.”
Haven't seen you on the site in a while.
Hope you are Okay - Ike was pretty darn big - did it blow out power or cause a lot of damage over your way?
You won't recognize the site pretty soon. Lot's of changes.
I have contacted the new Regional Leaders with a couple of ideas. We are supposed to get an e-mail soon about the ladder of command. Finally have direction I think.
I have been very busy studying for this new class I'm taking. This teacher is tough. I have a test this coming week. Should be studying more, but my brain is bursing - so I am taking a break.
I did hit the button for the Pledge, the Congress button and downloaded a bunch of Pledges to carry with me, along with a bunch of the flyers you put into such great organization ;o)
I managed to get 12 pledges filled out and faxed already. Wish everyone would get just 10 and we would have over a million. I requested Official bumper stickers, yard signs, and most importantly a banner for events where pledges could be signed and information could be given out. We will see what comes of that. Plus, I asked for ads on the Main Page of the net driver companies (Obama has one there on Yahoo). Not everyone watches TV, many tune out the ads if they do watch.
I see below that Kim left you a message about missing you while you are meeting an obligation. At least I don't have to worry about the storm now I think.
am helping Ken get the word out to the folks on his list.
Have you seen T. boones AUTO MATIC system to send
e-mail to your rep. You type in a few key strokes and
it auto adresses the e-mail to all your reps and the GOV.
of your state based on zip code. Has a sugested draft of a letter to send. NEVER EASYER. Spread the word to click on the ACTION CENTER at the main web site.
Good luck, I am sure you will meet your obligation. We will have hopefully added 10,000 new members, signed many pledges and sent many letters to Washington. We will, however miss having you at the helm. You are a fine navigator of this ship.
WOW- in addition to the PLEDGE, we now also have a RED "CONTACT CONGRESS" BUTTON on the main page, top right. Fill out the standard form and the letter is sent to YOUR Governor and Washington Representatives! Easy breezy. Perfect timing considering the energy bill is coming up. We must beat back the lobbyists!
In response to "How did I find this list":
I noticed the profile of the newest member of the East Tennessee group, Renee Klink, read: "have joined with T. Boone Pickens in helping generate support for the Pickens Plan. I have responsibility for helping organize the New Energy Army in the states of Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. My job is to provide members of the Army with resources, ideas, and support in the pursuit of American Energy Independence. Please feel free to send me a message with any questions, comments, or suggestions! Thank you so much for supporting the Pickens Plan and I look forward to working with you in the coming months to make America independent of foreign oil."
I figured there were more like her for other regions. I went to the Groups by State list, clicked on the first Alaska group. I looked at the newest members to the group and noticed the one that had multiple states listed for location. When I looked at their profile, Micah Lauer, I noticed the similar profile message. I went through the state list repeating this search. I messaged my findings to Ron, Kim and you. You may notice some gaps in the states. I couldn't find one for California, for example or a Mamager for the IL - OH area. They may be slacking. This just happened yesterday.
I have also inquired to the site geeks about a program to scan all members and filter out the ones who's comment box has yet to be used. I talked to the geek squad and they say a program could be written.. This would 1, find the ones we have missed in the greeting process 2, save us who are doing the greetings much time.
Could you also check the status of this request? Tom
I sent this question to Kim. She told me she forwarded it to you and the sweet crew.
I have been online ever since greeting new people. I have many request for just this kind of stuff.
If you could check up on the progress I would greatly app it.
Not sure if I am at the right persons desk.
In order to help streamline the many projects you have ongoing.
I have plenty of time on my hands. I'm sure I have some bugs to work out and this could be a large undertaking but what I would like to offer is to be the contact person for items we all could use to get the word out.
yard signs, bumper/window stickers, pens, Banners ect.
I have been on-line and made phone calls and found a good company that can, with a fast turn around supply these types of products.
All drafts would have to be approved by the proper person.
Then be placed on the website as approved items..
There again I am not sure where you are in the center hub of this movement.
By placing the link to obtaining advertising materials on the home page it would keep all material comming from 1 place with less chance of missrepresentations.
Individuals, Groups and whoever would then be connected to me and after processing their electronic payment I will place orders for however many items they want.
I will always need as much lead time as possible.
I will always carbon copy the order to you or the proper person for record keeping.
I will retrieve a small fee for my time through the amounts of items ordered and differences in shipping costs.
