I'm a born and raised Okie from B'ville, schooled at OSU and living in Las Vegas. I'm also a 38 year lifer in the auto business. I consult with dealers across the U.S. and in Japan. It seems to me that there needs to be an alliance between auto dealers and any serious CNG initiative for converting gasoline vehicles to flex fuel/CNG vehicles. Dealers would be ideal for refueling stations as they have an ongoing desire to drive traffic to their facilities, which has been degraded due to the economy and the Internet. They already have extensive lobbying capabilities. They have the capability to do the conversions. They are looking for new revenue sources. Need I say more?
A group of us have been discussing ideas on how to get this started. We 'd welcome the opportunity to discuss our ideas with you or anyone you designate. We really think there is significant opportunity associated with getting dealers involved in an effort to overcome enertia! We just need to get the "pump primed!

The practicality of a simple initiative coming from us to push our leaders to do the right thing is as practical as a Novocain therapy on easing the pain of a Trigeminal Neuralgia. A green initiative such as the Pickens Plan or any imagination from our engineers and green entrepreneurs will give us an initial fix to pacify our anguish with the present economic tic douloureux. One thing we do not have is time. We do not have the time just to sit around and wait for our leaders to do something, wait for our leaders to pick us up. The cost of not doing anything is catastrophic. The initiative should start from us, and not from Washington. Otherwise, without our push and our initiative, the imaginations of our scientists and our entrepreneurial spirit are nothing but dust in the wind. Our anguish will just be a drop of water in an endless sea, our hopes will just crumble to the ground, our cry will just be an old song, and all we are is just dust in the wind. I could almost feel my heart thumping while I use the poetic words of Kerry Livgren of the group Kansas to describe the ramification of not answering the call of urgency. Thanks for letting me know about the new Renewable Energy Bill introduced by enator Reid. For why I am glad to see Congress and the American Barons taking their roles seriously I worry that more help is needed if America is going to see a new National Power Grid in the next 10 years. So let me ask you how does the Pickens Army get the Railroad Barons of America to join the cause?
For I do believe that once the government and railroad barons realize that they can capture the short trip passenger market and feight between cities with a network of high speed electric trains. It would only be a matter of time before someone in Washington would see that America could build a National Power Grid by running a cable along side the rails.
Just an Idea; however, I do see were high speed passenger and frieght trains could help America grow in the 21st Century.
Why just wind power? I beleive in wind power and what your plan is about, but why not incorporate solar power into the plan? A combination of wind and solar farm would offset each other, and provide a power source for many households. I live in Michigan, and things are not good here, we need jobs!!! We have a workforce of highly trained Union Carpenters and Electricians sitting idle right now because of job outsourcing and economic downturn. If the funding thru the stimulus bill were available for creating a wind/solar power structure in Michigan, we have carpenters/electricians allready qualified to install wind turbines, and PV solar panel grids. Governor Granholm has started a no worker left behind program to train workers in a new field, such as wind power technician. I have talked with members of the Detroit Area Apprenticeship Program, about including this as part of a course of study.
The tools to accomplish your goal for ridding America's dependence on oil, are there ( A qualified willing workforce of Carpenters/Electricians) you just have to tell us what to do.

Just an Idea; however, I do see were high speed passenger and frieght trains could help America grow in the 21st Century.
The tools to accomplish your goal for ridding America's dependence on oil, are there ( A qualified willing workforce of Carpenters/Electricians) you just have to tell us what to do.
