I find your innovative approach to conversions very interesting. I am a Clean Cities Coordinator And co-owner of www.cngchat.com. I also work as an Alternatife Fuels Mgr for a Honda Dealership and handle all cng related issues.

One thing that is desperately needed right now is a way to get EPA and CARB to streamline the conversion process, as well as to lower associated costs. My site is the new home of the Clean Cities Coordinators chat site, and membership includes Honda, Sempra Utilities, Questar Gas, small Volumn Manufacturers (conversion companies) and virtually every facet if the natural gas industry.

I would encourage you to join cngchat and put your information in the Conversion Forum area, as there are even rocket scientists in our ranks that come in very handy with working out math problems. The conversion shops are trying to get several vehicles through EPA right now and Clean Cities has access to grant funds that may help move your project along. I look forward to seeing you there.

Great comments on LB 629. Good bill but it was written for wind only which was short sighted and a symptom of the systemic problem.

'Green-collar' jobs a growth area, U.S. group says

Companies are stepping up their environmental initiatives, and that may mean a boom in "green-collar" jobs.

A recent forecast by the American Solar Energy Society found that renewable energy and energy-efficient industries were responsible for the creation of nearly 8.5 million jobs in 2006, and by 2030 that number is expected to reach 40 million.

Colleges and universities are taking notice, according to Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc., a job placement consulting group.

Many have introduced specialized degree programs in eco-commerce, environmental accounting, green and social marketing, and ecological economics.

"The demand for 'green-collar' jobs is really exploding, especially as the cost of energy continues to climb," said John Challenger, the group's chief executive. "Students need to start thinking about developing skills that will give them an edge for these types of careers that did not even exist until recently."

Popular jobs include urban planners, forestry professionals and environmental lawyers, Challenger said. There is also a growing demand for architects and engineers with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit.

Dale and Laure - We can all learn from one another.
I am very pleased to witness this American Evolution
and to have some contact with you and others who
with powerful leadership and within this framework can change
public policy. Ron Rhoades wrote: "Inaction by our policy leaders can lead to disaster." Bravo... Our efforts need to be focused, many have opinions and it is in the collective awareness as this Energy Policy Evolution aggregates positive momentum that we will overcome our disastrous state of inertia.

Very powerfully stated by Ron Rhoades who wrote:

The time is now...
Moreover, if you do this, you will be able to look back in a few years and say, "I really made a difference ... I propelled a movement forward which changed the future of America - and individual Americans - for the better." Your time has arrived to positively impact the lives of millions of Americans. Seize the moment.

Hi Dale and Laure,

I have contacted everyone in my email address book and advised them to check out pickensplan.com and to contact their legislators about the need for alternative energy specifications.

Back in 1962, my brother was in the natural gas industry in South Florida. He advocated the use of natural gas over electricity, as NG is cleaner and cheaper. He also pushed compressed natural gas for powering automobiles for the same reason. He actually contacted T. Boone Pickens back in the 60s about the use of compressed natural gas for automotive energy but Pickens never answered his letter.

I have been busy contacting my legislators and faxed a letter to Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ken), who was on CNN today ranting about the need for more offshore oil drilling. Anyone who advocates the need for more oil drilling is indeed a real fossil.

BTW, there is a great website for looking up the names, addresses, email address, and fax numbers of legislators, all listed by state: http://www.conservativeusa.org/mega-cong.htm.

Hi,
My husband was a VP for the old Campbell 66 Express. We know that the high prices are very difficult for anyone in freight and transportation. I will be watching your group to see what everyone is doing.

Dale and Laurie,

I am glad you joined. We are people interested not only supporting the plan as Mr. Pickens has outlined but attempting to understand how it can become a profitable venture rather than an excess cost venture like solar was in the past.

We feel the importance is insuring the profitability of business involvement as well as local individual support so that it has the ability to be cost competitive and wide spread.

Thanks again for joining.

Charles
