Hello Reb S.,

I'm up in Fort Smith, AR and it looks like my wife and I might be moving to Abilene in the very near future. My mother and stepdad live in Abilene and have for many years so I am not exactly a stranger to the area having visited them on numerous occasions over the years. Anyway, while I have their perspective on the current and general economic scene in Abilene, I would greatly appreciate another, and unbiased (my mother has wanted me to move to Abilene almost forever) :-), perspective from someone like yourself who lives there.

If you have the time, willingness and inclination I would like to hear from you.

Thanks.

Monte

p.s. great photos!!

I really liked your pictures, reminds me of home. I'm from Snyder Tx. I was in oil field construction for many years. I've seen good times and I've seen bad. It's a great time to be in the oil business. But I know that it's days are numbered. We have to look at wind and other sources of energy!

Thanks for trying Rebecca.. I think I am 350 something...
Just rain and more rain, no flooding yet, but downtown Brownwood is in a hole so am sure they are... That however is normal thing if it rains a teacup it floods... Golly bum I can relate to everything your dad was telling you... I did the very same thing. We had a gas servall refridg. when I was a kid finally, until then my Mom had what was known then as a window cooler and it was not an an evap cooler either we also had an icebox that you could put 50lb blocks of in and keep things cool in the summertime. Wintertime it was not needed cos usually the window cooler thing did the trick.. She cured out her own bacons and hams, stuffed her own link saugage and smoked some if wanted to in the smokehouse... I bet I am boreing you to death.. Pass this tidbit on to your dad if you wanna..

Team work - will make the Energy Independence Dream Work!

I want to encorage our group to continue to maintain interest in this mission. I would ask that you go back and review some of the media post / and video messages T. Boone has posted on the main site for inspiration. " Particularly the one requesting interested American's invite 5 friends "

It would be a terrible shame to loose our directive and hope at this point after so many have signed up to support a positive change in America.

We must also take into account - many people who are for the Pickens Plan - may not wish to participate in something on the internet. So - I would say, contact your local media outletts and prompt them to run updated stories on the Plan and Mr. Picken's efforts. Find other ways to communicate your endorsment of the Pickens Plan - to reach other Americans. I have a friend who printed a small Pickens Plan Logo - and taped it inside her back car window.... she says people in the parking lot will talk to her when she is getting her groceries now. about what she thinks about it.. and she sends them to the web site for more information.

I think we all must begine to talk about the plan with friends and in our conversation.... I can't tell you how many people I have directed to the site - after remarking... " What do you guys think about the Pickens Plan". I remain fairly neutral and respectful of all opinions - but tell them I learned a lot by visiting and think its good for America. * People want to know answers*

Lets continue - Lets Keep up the good work!
It took us years to get into this mess.... it may take a while to get back out, but we have to keep "trying" or all will be lost.
Watch for more information on the main site too!

There are some great people invovled here - I have met some fine Americans because of this site. That alone is valuable and inspirational - but if we can work together to better our country as well....... " you know - as they say".....
That would be Priceless!

Thank you for being my new friend. Hi to your Dad.
Like him, I also started my adventure with solar hot water collectors in 1979, and became a fan since then and never stoped to work in the solar energy field. Engineering, designing, building a lot of solar system.
You bet, any American plan is better than OPEC.
Take care.

Your friend is right; it’s a life changing experience. I’m a self proclaimed marketing expert – I haven’t won any awards but maybe in the future. I would like to see some of your work and websites, please send me a link. Recently I launched a hard-print magazine here in my small home town (www.FloydMagazine.com) and I manage a business directory called (www.FloydCountyVirginia.org) my writing? It’s not where it should be and at my age (42), it is what it is. Maybe I should have paid better attention to me English teacher, Dr. O.

Let’s keep in touch.

Rebecca,
Thanks for your hard work here on the movement. Because of your efforts, I watched Larry King and I think it was very positive and reinforced that people are ready to make get behind the Pickens Plan. Keep up the good work. You are a true American.

TRANSPORTATION is the master key to basic survival, and the cornerstone of the economy. We all know that transportation presently depends on oil production, and oil production is peaking. We must focus first on transportation – it is the highest priority.

The PickensPlan to transition vehicles to natural gas is a great start toward 100% energy independence, but is a stop-gap measure till we can transition to all electric transportation. Electric energy is strained without adding transportation demands; so we must focus on drastic efficiency improvement.

Evacuated Tube Transport (ETT) is a patented technology where travel occurs without air friction or rolling resistance (like “Space Travel on Earth”); ETT can accomplish 50 times more transportation per kWh (or carbon credit) than electric cars or trains. ETT is silent, low cost, safe, faster than jets, and is electric so it can make maximum use of wind or PV power. I invite you to visit my page to learn more about ETT

I was in Malawi Africa last summer doing some mission work through our non profit; www.MalawiMission.org and have spent some time in Japan with the Marine Corps. I have a passion for volunteer work and our earth. I'm a web developer, graphic designer and build online businesses using network marketing techniques. My family and I are originally from Miami Florida but five years ago we moved to Floyd Virginia. It’s a very, very small rural town nestled on a plateau a top the Appalachian Mountains. We run a network marketing business from the house. We’re very excited about the Pickens Plan because we’re also members of one.org (U2 – Bono – World Hunger) and have personally seen the results of people banning together and influencing our government to act on worthy causes. The Internet has made it possible. Please keep in touch!

Yes,Rebecca the Electrical is supposed to be revenue nutral. In our case the state was lobbied to change the constitution where a majority of the city council-{3}- can decide the fate of 2500 residents with out putting it to a vote of the people. The contract was carefully drafted so the city did not own an interest in the new plant which allowed this to happen. even worse it stipulates in the contract the city still has to pay their share of over a half billion in revenue bonds even if the plant is never built or we never receive one killowatt from Prairie State. We will have to start making payments when the first 800 MGW's goes on line in 2011 or2012 if we don't find a way to break the contract.

I do not plan on giving up.

I retired from the Santa Fe Railroad in 1991. A Track Supervisor for the BNSF Rwy. who lives in Pampa,Texas worked for me in Kansas before I retired. I e-mailed him after I seen T Boone Picken's Plan on TV. Donald

For those interested: this is a link to a short story on the Weather Channel - endorsing the use of Wind power and the ecconomic benifits it has brought to West Texas. This situation can be repeated all accross the " American Wind Belt" if people will organize and move the government to act on assisting them in making it happend.

It has been wonderful for West Texas.

Hey Rebecca

Thanks for the encouraging words.
"Hand on the plough". My gradfather the farmer would have loved that one. He would be standing right at my side with this!

Have a great day. Please make sure we are "friends". Some of these things are beyond my "technology limitations".

Best
