Great Causes bring out great people. As a 25-year veteran in Power Generation & Energy Development, let me thank you for getting involved and extend an offer to provide insight and assistance in your local effort. This is a very doable plan and it starts with people like you in making it a success. The key to the plans success will be communicating to the masses. It starts with e-mailing 25 non-Pickens Plan members on a Bi-weekly basis with information on energy activities that they can relate to and gain there interest. We need to communicate reality not dreams for unfortunately the American public has a very short attention span and most are living day to day. The Pickens Plan as it stands right now is at the 50,000 ft level. We need to develop a more detailed comprehensive national execution plan for the next five years. The first section should incorporate conservation and placing public pressure on elected officials at all levels of government to engage and approve a national plan while in parallel we are designing, constructing and installing the new infrastructure systems. Once we have the grass roots base involved at this level, we can then continue to communicate the next steps of the plan to them to help bring us to the Energy Independence we are looking to accomplish
Happy New Year John,
Last year I helped so many members of Pickens Plan learn about personal home energy plans. It's all about conservation of power, and home power generation, things I have been doing at my residence to lower my electricity costs. Send me a friend request a to add me John, I'd be honored to have you as a friend here.
BTW, Texas: I just posted an article link on my pickens page about Home Wind Systems in Texas. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "weak policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. Texas has created multiple sets of rules for loopholes and you have less rights than people in other states. You should read that article, important.
How come no one is advocating the sequestration of saltwater on Antarctica & Greenland to cause sea level to drop and increase the area of usable land -- Ah -- the massive low-tide smell. That's gotta be it... :^)
Maybe I missunderstood, John, are you for cleaning up trash and coal emission pollution, especially if its profitable? You have a very nice background, we have to start somewhere. I am trying to keep this from the big corps at least til I am sure nothing will get buried.
I share you concerns of the "parochial agenda" pushed upon the public through the media. But many of your colleagues in the scientific community do not share your views.
As an example, I offer a gentleman that installed a homemade device in his turbo diesel pickup truck that uses electrolysis to "crack" water into combustible HHO gas. He spent about $175.00 and received a n increase in mileage from about 14MPG to about 26MPG. A professor from Oregon State then was interviewed by the same local paper and reported that such devices do not produce any gains in energy, while proceeding to offer a lesson in the laws of thermodynamics, entropy, and the laws of conservation of energy to explain the whole concept and its failings.
While all of that may be true, and I still have my doubts about that, the guy who installed the unit in his truck is saving money by using water to supplement the diesel. Perhaps the professor in his expertise in physics, failed economics, and cannot understand the difference in price between burning diesel at about $3.75/gal. vs. water at about $0.75/gal. for the distilled variety.
Then there is the power industry experts who warn that building wind turbines to produce electricity will cause the power grid problems due to the fact that their antiquated grid cannot switch from wind to another source fast enough and that it will cause blackouts or brownouts across the entire grid system. Right, and if you interested in purchasing a bridge...
To me, the solution is electric via renewables period. Until such a time as we can figure out how to tap the electrical energy of the sun, we will have to use clean sources that do not require fuels to burn or radioactive materials that will have to be dealt with for a long, long time.
I do remember a Dr. Paul Brown who claimed he developed a process whereby he could utilize "spent" nuclear fuel to produce electricity and when he was finished with that "waste" fuel, you can grind it up and spread it on your lawn or garden. Well, he got dead so we may have to wait until some other scientists can duplicate his work.
Tesla transmitted electric without wires over one hundred years ago, and last year, MIT claimed to have "discovered" how to do that, and demonstrated by lighting up a 70 Watt bulb wirelessly. Tesla was transmitting megaWatts.
These may be still classed as "exotic" technologies or at the very least experimental and therefore not ready for production. However, we still have many viable methods to utilize sun, wind, ocean currents, and never have to burn fuels.

We do not make the parts but we manufacture the ingredients to make the bio plastic parts possible.

John:
1) Why don't you write up these - - very convincing - - numbers, and I'll post them on http://www.ElToroEXPOSED.com at THE RIGHT STUFF.
2) MY photovoltaic system (3 kw, grid-connected, pictures at ENVIRONMENT at http://www.antiagingforme.com) brings an 11% return on the money invested; enough to charge a plug-in hybrid.
3) PV versus Nuclear: Cost of reactor at least $ 5 Billion. Offer people (on top of existing incentives) $ 10,000 each for installing a 3 kw PV system. At that incentive level everybody would do it. Result: 500,000 homes with 3 kw each; total 1,500 MW (a little more than output of a nuclear reactor). No further costs, no radioactive waste - - - .
Are my numbers correct? Looks toooo good! It is late! Please check my numbers.
John:
Welcome!
You are absolutely correct!
But how can we get through to those ignoramases who believe that drilling and nuclear are the only (over-priced and making someone else rich) answers?

Well the first thing is to work up a business plan that can be presented to my town, Mark Cooper has converted his car to run on propane and gas, There is an empty Station in the center of my town great location to start. we could outfit the building with solar and wind technology as well as convert cars to run on propane as well as gas.
I need someone with the business back ground that I do not have to assit me. I know if we have a good sound business plan we will do well.

How would you like to go 100% carbon neutral right now for your home's electricity use?
A free green energy system is here now for those who live in New York and Texas, 22 other states are coming as soon as they are fully energy deregulated. Imagine your house and car powered 100% by clean green wind power.. It is possible, as both Pickens and Al Gore say.
Going green with electricity for a home is as easy as switching energy providers in deregulated states such as Texas and New York. Just switch to an energy provider that offers this option.. Click on link to see what the latest up to date electricity rates are. I can answer any concerns or questions.
Imagine living in a home powered by wind, without spending a dime on machines, wires, inverters, towers, and grid interties or panels!
You can also plug your electric scooter or car into your home and recharge it with wind power also... Guess what?
You are now a living example that Al Gore's and Picken's Plan works.. We can all live 100% green like this if we want to. Getting 100% carbon free for home electricity and cars is not that hard.. Make the choice... go green. If you live a monopoly energy state where you have no choices, push for deregulation, so that you at least have this power and this CHOICE available.
At the very least, save some money and pick a lower priced energy plan.. The above site will also let you compare rates and save up to 28% on your electricity bill. Try it out.. It is FREE to switch and no costs are involved as far as equipment or installation.
Careers are opening up in this field. Green energy consultants are needed in all 50 states. Push green power, educate consumers, switch them to green power.
We can save the planet, one person at a time, one house at a time. All it takes is you getting involved and taking action. Contact me if interested, and I can provide more information.
As we face soaring energy prices, future shortages, and the alarming prospect of dramatic climate change brought about by fossil fuel waste, the one thing we desperately need stands out in stark relief: an abundant supply of clean energy - the Holy Grail of the modern world.
Oil and natural gas are running low. Wind power is limited to a few locations, biofuels require much more land than we have, and solar is still far from practical after decades of intensive research. Nuclear fusion has made even less progress. The supply of uranium for conventional nuclear power will run out within this century. Right now, almost every new power plant has to be fueled by dwinding supplies of natural gas or uranium, or by dirty coal, which spews out not only vast amounts of carbon dioxide but millions of tons of toxic soot, poisonous heavy metals, and radioactive isotopes.
Whenever the construction of a nuclear reactor is delayed because of a false hope in "renewable" energies that never materialize, a coal or natural gas plant has to be built instead, polluting the air we breathe and driving global warming faster and faster. But even conventional nuclear reactors produce waste, and because they use only a tiny fraction of the energy in uranium, that resource is also being depleted.
Enter Thorium. Half a century ago, a different kind of nuclear reactor was invented, one that burns Thorium - an inexhaustible supply of fuel, and much cheaper than the enriched-uranium fuel used by current reactors. It can even use the nuclear waste from other reactors as fuel! The Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactor, or LFTR for short, operates at low pressures, so it could never explode like the reactor at Chernobyl, and its liquid-fuel design makes it physical impossible to overheat, like the reactor at Three Mile Island.
Unfortunately, it was the Cold War - energy was still cheap, global warming was just a theory, and the LFTR wasn't good for making weapons-grade plutonium, so it was abandoned. Now, a growing group of scientists and engineers are working to bring the LFTR back to life - to free us from filthy coal and turn stockpiles of nuclear waste into the clean, cheap energy we need.
Re: Let us put our money where our mouth is … And WiNd BiG
Virtually all of us here at Pickens’ Plan are in favor of making an investment into the Plan. We'd even want to contribute real hard cash. I'm sure as word spreads, everyone in the country would too. Here’s how "We the People" can do it. If we all wrote to our electric power companies and requested an immediate rate increase of $0.03/kWh to be used as our shared investment in converting all electricity to wind, we could generate an investment fund of considerable power. Consider this. We as a nation use 4 trillion-kWh of electricity a year or 333 billion-kWh per month. Investing $0.03/kWh means an investment of $10 billion per MONTH. That’s $120 billion over 5 years. With that investment, “We the People” get “Power to the People” and each of us, as individuals, will be energy independent within 5 years.
Worried about other fossil energy sectors? Don’t! The same formula would work equally well there too! We can become an zero-carbon energy nation as fast or faster than Al Gore says.

I agree with a lot of what you say above. Good to have you on board and we may have some interesting discussions in the future.
In the case of H2 fuel I tend to differ with you just a bit and would welcome the opportunity to convert you to my way of thinking :-D
