Hi Lainey! I met a city mechanic from Shreveport, LA about a year ago who was telling me they had a trial run on their trucks using natural gas. The problem they ran into was lack of compression in the engines. Higher compression engines would have been much more fuel efficient and thereby increasing the mpg of the vehicles. The perfect engine for this application is made in New Zealand and could be manufactured here in the States were it needed. Powerblocktv built a musclecar with this engine fed by propane. The name of the car was "Pro Pain"...lol I'm sure the natural gas application would fit this vehicle with all the horsepower and torque along with the lowest possible fuel consumption. The key to it all is high compression. Although the test in Shreveport failed, the true ingredience to success in this application was still in the experimental stage. If you care to do some research, check out powerblocktv.com and send them an inquiry concerning the musclecar "pro pain" and the engine they used.

Stop by and let me know what you think of my posts in the Energy Party Group. I take criticism very well and all the advice you can throw at me.

Take care,

Bruce

Glad to join you to improve quality of human life by better energy management practices. I am working on viable solutions which I posted at www.atrilab.com Hope some one in administration of Obama takes note. We have ready solutions but we also have a formidable barrier as described by Einstein - human stupidity of infinite dimension which prevents us from appreciating the simple and natural solutions. God bless us with wisdom to save ourselves!

REMARKS OF PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA

WEEKLY ADDRESS

The White House
Saturday, February 7, 2009

Yesterday began with some devastating news with regard to our economic crisis. But I'm pleased to say it ended on a more positive note.

In the morning, we received yet another round of alarming employment figures – the worst in more than 30 years. Another 600,000 jobs were lost in January. We've now lost more than 3.6 million jobs since this recession began.

But by the evening, Democrats and Republicans came together in the Senate and responded appropriately to the urgency this moment demands.

In the midst of our greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression, the American people were hoping that Congress would begin to confront the great challenges we face. That was, after all, what last November's election was all about.

Legislation of such magnitude deserves the scrutiny that it's received over the last month, and it will receive more in the days to come. But we can't afford to make perfect the enemy of the absolutely necessary. The scale and scope of this plan is right. And the time for action is now.

Because if we don't move swiftly to put this plan in motion, our economic crisis could become a national catastrophe. Millions of Americans will lose their jobs, their homes, and their health care. Millions more will have to put their dreams on hold.

Let's be clear: We can't expect relief from the tired old theories that, in eight short years, doubled the national debt, threw our economy into a tailspin, and led us into this mess in the first place. We can't rely on a losing formula that offers only tax cuts as the answer to all our problems while ignoring our fundamental economic challenges – the crushing cost of health care or the inadequate state of so many schools; our addiction to foreign oil or our crumbling roads, bridges, and levees.

The American people know that our challenges are great. They don't expect Democratic solutions or Republican solutions – they expect American solutions.

From the beginning, this recovery plan has had at its core a simple idea: Let's put Americans to work doing the work America needs done. It will save or create more than 3 million jobs over the next two years, all across the country – 16,000 in Maine, nearly 80,000 in Indiana – almost all of them in the private sector, and all of them jobs that help us recover today, and prosper tomorrow.

Jobs that upgrade classrooms and laboratories in 10,000 schools nationwide – at least 485 in Florida alone – and train an army of teachers in math and science.

Jobs that modernize our health care system, not only saving us billions of dollars, but countless lives.

Jobs that construct a smart electric grid, connect every corner of the country to the information superhighway, double our capacity to generate renewable energy, and grow the economy of tomorrow.

Jobs that rebuild our crumbling roads, bridges and levees and dams, so that the tragedies of New Orleans and Minneapolis never happen again.

It includes immediate tax relief for our struggling middle class in places like Ohio, where 4.5 million workers will receive a tax cut of up to $1,000. It protects health insurance and provides unemployment insurance for those who've lost their jobs. And it helps our states and communities avoid painful tax hikes or layoffs for our teachers, nurses, and first responders.

That's what is at stake with this plan: putting Americans back to work, creating transformative economic change, and making a down payment on the American Dream that serves our children and our children's children for generations to come.

Americans across this country are struggling, and they are watching to see if we're equal to the task before us. Let's show them that we are. And let's do whatever it takes to keep the promise of America alive in our time.

Thank you.

Welcome, Lainey to the Energy Party for Texas and thank you for your opening a discussion. I think people are beginning to get it here. We do have a lot at stake economically. And, we do have that grit that it takes to get things done. That's what I love about our state. Thank you again for your contribution and looking forward to working with you in the future 2010!

Hey Lainey!

You're exactly right, some biofuels, Algae-Oil included, had serious coagulation problems in freezing or sub-freezing temperatures. In the latest formulations, the better Algae-Oil fuel manufactures now included a steroyl additive that prevents this from happening.

In both the Continental Airlines test-flight of last week and the Air New Zealand test flight of 3 weeks ago, both used plant steroyls from the Jatropha fruit plant ( a non-consumable fruit shrub) that mixes perfectly with almost any biofuel, but especially well in Algae-Oil, that prevents any fuel decomposition or freezing problems in temperatures as low as 42 degrees below zero (0).

Both test flights used a mixture somewhere between 90-94% Algae-Oil Jet Fuel, cut and mixed with 6-10% Jatropha Fruit Shrub Oil derivatives. Both recent test flights were big successes, and the altitudes and temperatures they both flew at simulated 18 degrees below zero (F) and under considerably vibration stress too.

Anyone still using biofuels in freezing states without the preventative additives, is looking to gum up a lot of decent engines.

I read that incident too, nice to know they resolved that issue very quickly.

LAINEY - I am impressed by the scope and perseverance of your activity. If we all can match your efforts and results , then we WILL accomplish something BIG. The time for wringing of hands and moaning and cussing the "powers that be" must come to an end - NOW - or else America as a free and proud nation will be transformed into a debtors' prison worse than that of jolly old England from which our earliest forefathers fled in the 1700s.

Hi Lainey
I have been involved with lighting in the entertainment and architectural world for over 30 years now. We are actually dealing with somem majore retailers including Walmart to convert their stores to the LED Flouresent tubes. It si going along but slow as you can imagine.
we on earth literally have an LED for any bulb now. I am an energy management guy and I can tell you that 1 Walmart alone has about 5200 36 watt flouresent tubes for a total wattage of 187,200 KWH . The LED which #1 uses NO BALLAST #2 Uses less than haly the energy #3 lasts and is guaranteed for 5.7years. Will only use 83,200 watts!! so now multiply that by 2400 stores = Flouresent use=449,280,000 watts of energy LED Tube= 19,968,000. So based on these #'s Walmart alone could save 250,000,000 watts of energy! How much of a dent will this put in the Us energy problems?
The LED Tube is the same price now as a Flouresent tube with a ballast. So we also will save the manpower from continually having to change the flouresnet tubes.
Now the #1 reason beyond the energy savings is NO MORE MERCURY IN OUR LIGHTS, No dumps full of mercury that will kill all ground water off.

i need help getting this out there. We are already dealing with many US Corporations but it goes slow. Maybe some Pickens Plan help would make this a reality far sooner. I encourage you to send these calcualtions out to everyone on Pickens Plan
Best Regards

Hi Lainey,

I apologize in advance for blogging on your comment wall.

Lainey, on the 10th of November a friend of mine on the PP site, Iain McKennon, left me a comment on my wall. Within his comment Iain said, "My approach to Pickens at this point in time is to think globally and act locally." Unbeknownst to me at the time that particular comment of Iain's firmly lodged in my mind and has ever since been gradually working its way into a position of being an influential element in my creativity regarding Green solutions.

Speaking of friends, an old friend of mine used to tell me that the road to attaining an affluence (in anything) was to go with what one knew not new things that were as of yet untried. While I am sure that there are exceptions to this rule, I do believe that empirically, my friend's advice can be seen to be immensely more true than not.

So, here I am at a juncture in my life where I want to play an effective role in environmental repair, in preventive envirionmental health and overall be an active participant in a Green solution. Therefore, in listening to a couple of friends, it occurred to me that I can probably have a greater and more effective impact by concentrating my creativity and production on a local/regional target than doing otherwise. I also recognize that acting along the lines of what I already have personal experience with and/or incorporating a familiar reality in what I do is a strong plus in anything I set out to accomplish. And, I know that while acting locally it is critical that I continue to be thinking globally.

HERE IS A SEED I AM PLANTING

I want to share this seed with you Lainey because it just might be a seed that you too would want to plant where you are residing.

What I am going to do is form a corporation that is a Green construction company, an investment club, an online social community, a market research company, a research and development company, a documentation and educational video production company and an online course in the ways and means of how to build green. There's even more but those are all the top liners.

What will this company do (broad generalities only):

It will begin by doing infill development i.e., in Fort Smith, AR where I live there is an abundance of vacant properties within the city limits that can be purchased whereupon new dwellings (single family, duplexes, three and four-plexes) can be built. Currently there are not any builders in this area that are interested in building on these properties. Instead the local builders have their attention on building in whatever new subdivision is being developed.

The company will target these inner city vacant properties to purchase and construct new dwellings suitable and appropriate to the neighborhoods where they are located. The dwellings will be aesthetic, have high curb appeal, in most cases be small ( 800 sq ft. - 1,500 sq ft.) as the lots are small, will be built to endure, will be practical, will enhance the neighborhood, indeed the city, and...will be constructed with viable GREEN technologies.

Each dwelling built by this company will be model of green construction and green technologies utilized in home building.

The company, in the process of building green homes, will also serve as a vehicle to introduce, educate and enlighten a broad base of investors in numerous cutting edge green technologies that have to do with the home and beyond.

The company will circumvent the need for borrowing capital by opening up investment (per project) to the general public (local, national or international).

Participation in this company will be made very simple and inclusive. For example: The range of investment accepted will go from as low as $10 to as high as, but not exceeding, 5 percent of a project's total cost. Therefore, the lowest number of investors that could ever be possible on any project would be 20. Investments will be done by project.

Every project will be audio/video documented from beginning to end. The video documentation will be made available to any investor who has invested in the project. Also, when the completed dwelling is sold the buyer will receive a copy of the entire video documentation of their new green home from planning to completion.

Of course, all investors will be able to follow the progress of each project that they have invested in online and interact with the project. There will be web cams at each job site, weekly reports will be online by the project mgr. including detailed photos and anecdotes and detailed weekly expenditures. And, any and all tech used in the building of the project will be thoroughly explained as it is incorporated. I guess you could say that this aspect of the company is like doing an in-house Better Homes and Gardens type of production. Who knows...perhaps it could even become a series for PBS.

The entire operation process of the company will be transparent.

Nothing is done unless the money to pay for it is immediately available. Nothing is bought on credit.

All personnel who are involved in anyway with a project of the company or the company itself are a member/investor of the company. The exception to this would be anyone employed by the government eg., builidng inspectors, city planners, etc.

This is not a volunteer based company. Those who deliver a product and/or service for the company will be paid for the product/service just as they are always paid for their services rendered.

All frontline and backline costs are factored into the overall cost of a project. The video production and the online access availability are atypical expenses to a construction project. However, these elements are critical to the purpose and operation of the company so they will become a typical expense included in the budget of each project carried out by this company.
The company's motto: Purpose - Product - Profit (listed in relative order of importance).

At this stage in the creative process everything is subject to modification.

Okay, Lainey. There's the seed I'm planting in very broad and general terms. I'm sure you will see and extrapolate all the possibilities and potential of such a company. Feel free to ask any questions that you may have or comment as you wish. I am totally willing to share any of this project and how it progresses with anyone. In my opinion, if we had myriad of these companies in active operation we could all only benefit by such a circumstance.

If you would like to be a sounding board or otherwise participate in the ongoing development of this company just let me know by emailing me at mfs01@mynewroads.com

I have helped to construct many dwellings of many different sizes over the last 35 years but I have never constructed a house that totally utilizes green technologies. There will obviously be a learning curve to overcome and I will have to recruit those who have this expertise from numerous areas including the PP site. Access to green expertise does not seem to be all that available locally.

Some really good stuff love the troop support stuff! Hey, looks like I might get the boot from the PP. If you want to trade any more info, you can use docsetc@msn.com. Apparently I stand up too strong for the truth on this think. However, I've joined about 210 folks, as best I can tell, who have another forum site who left here, and have much more productive conversations without crazed Leftist propaganda.

Maybe we'll see you there someday too. Good luck on here.
