Welcome and THANK YOU for joining Pickens Plan. Here is how you can help.

EMAIL A LETTER TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVES BY USING OUR EASY RED "CONTACT CONGRESS" BUTTON - - With little effort, we have the ability here for you to send a letter to President Obama, our Representatives in Washington and your Governor, too.

Go to the MY ENERGY page. Register and make your voice count.

Go to GROUPS and join us for a March on Washington.

Go to THE PLEDGE Lend your voice to the call for American energy independence Fill in the short, standard form. Done!

YOU CAN ALSO HELP BY BRINGING 5 FOLKS TO JOIN the site today, so that we can build a voice big enough that Congress will finally have to listen to us, instead of the lobbyists and special interests, who are trying to derail this historic effort.

YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE PLEDGE on the Main page. Print out 10 or more of them, get them signed and fax them back to Boone ASAP. This is how we build our numbers fast! Be a leader, be a part of the "100 CLUB", by faxing in 100 signed pledges. Let me know when you are done and I will see that you are added to the list.

If you answered "YES" to Interested in becoming an organizer, there are several things I can recommend. Join the following Groups:
Organizers & Leaders
Online Action Army
Guides & Materials for New Members

On the upper right corner of Your Page, click on "States" to visit the Push Pickens Community for your state.

Contact and "Friend" the New Energy Army Regional Leader for your state; you can find them to the right, in the Featured Members section. Let him/her know that I sent you there and you are interested in becoming an organizer.

THERE IS NO TIME TO DELAY …to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost.

PICKENS U We are recruiting "Campus Coordinators" for colleges and universities to represent the Pickens Plan on campus. We are looking for someone who can create a college page on the Pickens Plan site and also on Facebook encouraging folks to sign up for the Pickens Plan.
If you are connected to a college or university in your state, can be a campus coordinator, or can help find a campus coordinator, please let me know so we can get the process rolling.

PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONS We need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not
1) increase our membership
2) influence public policy.
3) If you know someone who is in the press, or someone who blogs, get them to cover this and ask those in the public eye to support this plan.

Hi Barbara,

Thanks for becoming my friend. Please let me know what you think of my PickensPlan.com page. I just uploaded the new documentary, "Crude Impact" to it. Also, here is something that may be of use to you and your other friends:

I have found a renewable energy-oriented, $11B hedge fund that is now considering new investments. They have a high rate of accepting investment proposals. Now, they likely fund an R&D effort if that activity also has an attractive return on investment potential. Please email me if you'd like the hedge fund's application. If you have a nondisclosure agreement (and/or an Executive Summary), please email it to me, and I'll get it signed by a representative of the hedge fund.

H24ever,
Doug Starfield

Am so happy you are into wind turbines and water projects. Is the design you are working on already in production? Any prototypes anywhere? Beta sites?
Saw on HGTV one eve. on Ed Begley's show he had a small one, cylindrical in shape, placed on his roof he said was helping generate his home's energy and also he had solar. That has always been my primary source of desire as I'm here in Texas, it's hot, big-time sunshine and we've just got to be smart about utilizing it for the betterment of our homes and communities, same with wind and water.

Look forward to hearing your comments and opinions.

Thanks Dr. Currie, will do. I'm also trying to get Mr. Pikens ear to hear about or look at the wind turbines that are a great design vs. the G.E. types -- ours do not harm birds flying by and when wind goes below 15 mph, solar kicks in but if no sun, then silicon salt battery kicks in which the silicon can be recycled into fertilizer.

our actual website is www.Earth-Smart-Solutions.com but there may be a problem with this site & I am working on it.
Pass on to others, we are also trying to get a new lighting technology; no mercury!!! barely gets warm, 90% more efficient than othes

'Green-collar' jobs a growth area, U.S. group says

Companies are stepping up their environmental initiatives, and that may mean a boom in "green-collar" jobs.

A recent forecast by the American Solar Energy Society found that renewable energy and energy-efficient industries were responsible for the creation of nearly 8.5 million jobs in 2006, and by 2030 that number is expected to reach 40 million.

Colleges and universities are taking notice, according to Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc., a job placement consulting group.

Many have introduced specialized degree programs in eco-commerce, environmental accounting, green and social marketing, and ecological economics.

"The demand for 'green-collar' jobs is really exploding, especially as the cost of energy continues to climb," said John Challenger, the group's chief executive. "Students need to start thinking about developing skills that will give them an edge for these types of careers that did not even exist until recently."

Popular jobs include urban planners, forestry professionals and environmental lawyers, Challenger said. There is also a growing demand for architects and engineers with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit.
