GOT 10?
Will you get just 10 signed pledges faxed in, asap?!

There are less than 75 days until Inauguration Day... PLEASE, get just 10 pledges. If everyone did, we would be 14 millions strong! Unlike our forefathers , we will not need to take up arms, but THIS IS OUR REVOLUTION. WE CAN DO THIS.

I look forward to hearing how it is going.

Greetings Becky…..Thank you for joining! I have just returned from a 3 week trip to Denmark and Germany and continue to be amazed by the efforts of these countries with the addition of Spain to initiate huge programs in alternative energy solutions for their countries. Germany and Denmark are at the 20+ % of electricity being generated by wind. Spain is above 40% of its electricity being produced by wind. There is much written on the Internet about these efforts and incentives to homeowners, farmers and business people as well. We have been kept in the dark for so long about what others are doing to solve their energy needs, cut their carbon footprint and reduce global warming. America is only 5% of the world’s population but we use 25% of the world’s oil. There is something fundamentally wrong with that equation! We need to change our mindset and the mindset of our legislators to choose the right path for the future of America and our dependency on foreign oil. Check out the photos from Germany, Denmark and Spain on my Pickens Plan Page. Your help is greatly appreciated and needed……Again, thanks…..>> Lee Ewald
P.S. Google Samso, Denmark and Freiburg, Germany (The Solar Village) to see 2 great examples of what is being done in Europe.

Hi Becky

Sorry you were never properly welcomed.
Welcome and THANK YOU for joining Pickens Plan.
Please bring 5 folks to join the site today, so that we can build a big enough voice that Congress will finally have to listen to us, instead of the lobbyists and special interest, who will certainly try to derail this historic effort.

THERE IS NO TIME TO DELAY
…to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost. How frightening to think that we could be looking back and apologizing to our children that we could not to get this done when we had the chance.

PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONS
We need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not 1) increase our membership nor 2) influence public policy. If you know someone in the press or someone who blogs - get them to cover this. Write to your Congressman/woman. Ask those in the public eye to support this plan. Print downloadable flyers and put them in your car and/or business window.

A GROUP FOR EVERYONE
Check out the many groups for Solar, CNG, scientists, etc. Connect, learn and share. We grow stronger with your input. If you don't see a group that speaks to your interest, then start a group of your own.

PLEASE FRIEND ME so we can keep in touch. I do updates on new member numbers and will be helping with a petition drive soon.

Thanks again for joining us.

'Green-collar' jobs a growth area, U.S. group says

Companies are stepping up their environmental initiatives, and that may mean a boom in "green-collar" jobs.

A recent forecast by the American Solar Energy Society found that renewable energy and energy-efficient industries were responsible for the creation of nearly 8.5 million jobs in 2006, and by 2030 that number is expected to reach 40 million.

Colleges and universities are taking notice, according to Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc., a job placement consulting group.

Many have introduced specialized degree programs in eco-commerce, environmental accounting, green and social marketing, and ecological economics.

"The demand for 'green-collar' jobs is really exploding, especially as the cost of energy continues to climb," said John Challenger, the group's chief executive. "Students need to start thinking about developing skills that will give them an edge for these types of careers that did not even exist until recently."

Popular jobs include urban planners, forestry professionals and environmental lawyers, Challenger said. There is also a growing demand for architects and engineers with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit.

Not often do a nation of individuals have the opportunity to come together for a vital common cause and chart a new course for present and future generations? I find this fascinating. We need to do what we can to push this forward! Many people have so many alternative designs it's as if the flood gates have opened.
