Chris,

Great to know there are other energy-efficiency like-minded people here.

My self-appointed task this weekend is to follow up with my country supervisor on ensuring I can install solar or green roofs and do other things to my property to better serve the energy-efficiency goal.

I joined CarbonFreeDC--a group dedicated to moving toward energy efficiency using alternate fuels. While I disagree with their basis (carbon is the enemy) because we are carbon beings and us and trees/plant life need carbon to survive; I am learning a great deal about solar and other ways to become energy efficient. So far a good group.

I do want to detoxate the air we breath and become energy independent. By independent, I mean off the grid. I want other off the grid also (if they want to be off the grid.)

Long way to go but we can do it--if we all stand our ground individually and together and against government interference. Go Pickens! (this is as close to sports I get!)

thanks for checking in. unfortunately, i have no idea how to get your idea in front of decision makers at the Pittsburgh Airport (or others).

i will check in with some of the Pickens Team to see if they have ideas.

in the meantime, i hope you will urge your firends and neighbors to visit the Pickens Plan website and click on the "Pledge" section in order to send an email message to their MOCs.

Hi Rose,I gotta few mins on this PC.Im out in Oakland Ca.and doing some work for a few small businesses Im so happy the owners realize that 14 cents on every dollar will be saved each month on the lighting im installing. Its simply mind boggling that small businesses treat their electric bill as an invisible expense and dont address it as profit lost.

But Rose what really outrages me is Pittsburgh Intl airport. When I saw the 1980s technology used in their lighting I was stunned. If I knew how to contact the powers that be at the airport Id offer them a nonprofit plan to upgrade their lighting and reduce energy cost by a whopping 18%.They light the place 24/7 365 the ROI would be faster than any other business and they would save enormous amounts of money after their investment is repaid. And Ive estimated they have 21,000 lights, imagine the reduction in fossil fuel emissions from that conversion alone.

I have a plan that if implemented, would make a difference through my generous offer reduce fossil fuel emissions that could make a huge difference. What if I did the airports 2100 lights on a for profit basis and donated the profit to small businesses in Pittsburgh area by purchasing the technology and installing it at no cost to the small businesses.Or make a deal that after the airports done they purchase the technology from the money I dont charge them for installing the 21000 lights.Botom line is I will donate my profit toward converting the entire Pittsburgh area to T8 energy saving lighting we can workout how after I meet the powers that be.Well Rose lets keep talking maybe someone that can help will see what Im proposing,I know it can snowball into a huge improvement for my beloved Pittsburgh. Thanks Rose for being a real friend Chris

Me! Leave!? -Not a chance.

It is actually my hope that T Boone Pickens taps me on the shoulder to undertake a serious role to take potential driven from its membership one step, two steps further... you never know.

Meanwhile I'm searching for my own best, and right place in fully dedicating my energy and creative thinking to the next half of my life.. I'm at an interesting crossroad. Time will tell.

Please take my personal and business email addresses:

rosemarielacoursiere@me.com
rosemarie@virginmoontrading.com

BTW -- In reference to the agency I couldn't quite put my finger on regarding the likely name of one just like it in PA ... Please go to this link:

http://www.delraycra.org

This is the precise type of organization I believe you need to meet with to offer your concept and tremendous gift in giving back to your community. For Delray Beach, it runs under the name: CRA -- Community Redevelopment Agency.

I'm hopeful there is such an agency in your beloved Pittsburgh.. I keep thinking there must be one. If not by the name, certainly one similar. If you cannot find one, walk into City Hall or go to your local and state websites and search..

I look forward to learning of your successes along the way. Never hesitate to ask me... glad to kick the Coke can up and down the street with you.

All the best,
RoseMarie LaCoursiere

Hello Chris,

I didn't forget about you - before I start a search on your behalf, have you contacted a branch of local government I'd imagine your beloved Pittsburgh would surely have -- the name, or acronym would sound like: CRA Community Redevelopment Association, or Office or _______.

You would find such an office typically on Main Street in the oldest parts of town that are focused on community redevelopment, providing creative/helpful small business loans to entrepreneurs willing to occupy hardest hit pockets of old towns, downtowns, areas hurting for not having the polish and 'economic strength' to remodel, refurbish, attract new businesses.......to stimulate growth.

They help protect historical buildings, and homes and encourage people to buy and remodel keeping to the period and charm of a time long gone... The City of Delray Beach accomplished greatness in its redevelopment efforts and was recognized as an All-America City.

Perhaps there is an All-America City in PA you can look into to approach with your proposal.

My thinking is, if people you have approached shy away and simply miss the point and opportunity, it is a matter of working with a source that holds influence and a different kind of credibility that perhaps can make your concept 'standard practice' for new redevelopment programs in which the owner of the property benefiting form the City sponsored programs must respect and abide by ...

You could also consider approaching your colleges and universities in PA -- contact heads of Engineering programs to form some type of collaboration that allows the University to explore what you present as A/E solutions and take it one step further which creates Win/Win/Win opportunity for advancement.

Another idea would be to reach out to your local lifestyle publications -- most neighborhoods have them, in Parkland we have Parkland Life and the Parklander -- these types of magazines are all about community news and survive through advertising local business. You should consider contacting the Editor to these publications and suggest they consider a feature story about your offering and tie in the Pickens Plan -- If you need a contact source to offer material for the article ask me..

Finally, a suggestion to make in approaching the publications with the suggestion of writing a feature about your interest and desire to give back, with Pickens Plan in the mix, plant the seed of creating a contest -- inviting the publication's readership to write about their American Dream and Challenges faced. The entries could contribute to future stories (up to the publication to determine), yet provides you with a nice batch of people with the American Dream in their hearts and challenges faced in hopes of attracting your fine generosity...

Naturally that becomes a follow-up story in itself.

Finally, how about Habitat for Humanity?
Have you considered approaching your local Habitat for Humanity organizations? Surely they would welcome you with open arms.

I look forward to your toughts, and together we can make a difference....I'm happy to bounce ideas back and forth with you to sharpen your best opportunities.

All the best,
Win your week!

Hello Chris,

I stand and salute you! You are an inspiration to many and I will give thought as to how best to place a warm wind in your sails.

An immediate idea I have, and you may have done this already, is to post your interest at a new group I started over the weekend 'PICKens Me! ~Jobs! I realize you do not necessarily have jobs to offer, yet I'm looking to attract employers and it is these small employers that may 'find you' and visa versa.

In addition, you could run a search looking for pickensplan members in your home state and review each of the profiles to determine if they meet your criteria. I think your desire to give back, and the way in which you want to accomplish this merits ovations and positive press -- You may want to reach out to local media and stimulate an awareness-contest through which small business 'apply' for the opportunity you wish to extend.

Don't hesitate to bounce ideas back and forth with me. You can side-bar any matter you wish to keep private by reaching me at my business email address of rosemarie@virginmoontrading.com

I wish you the very best Chris,

Chris,
it is not the rejection for me. I can't tell people they should buy something that maybe they don't need.
To me you offer something, offer it at the price it should cost and people should come and get it.
Now if they want my opinion as to what is the best, I can argue that but I can't take someone down the "this is what you should buy" road. It is just not me.

Chris,
I appreciate your offer of coffee and donuts. If you are ever in the Seattle area let me know and we can meet for exactly this. I would love it.

As for my graphics, thank you. They are images I have taken. I am in the prepress industry and have been seriously into photography as a hobby for a few decades now.
I also do a lot of image manipulation work, used to be my career before I moved into the IT/IS world.
If you are interested in other stuff I have done you can check out my web site. I wold love to make a living doing my own stuff but I am seriously limited by my ability to be a salesman. I have never been much of one. I can argue my point about things I feel strongly about but to peddle wares, well it is not in my personality make up.

If you own a small business or know a business owner that has HID or fluorescent lighting they are spending 26 cents on every dollar of their electric bill too much. We have pledged to the Pickens plan to reduce emissions from fossil fuel power plants by retrofitting these small businesses and save them that 26 cents on every dollar they send to the electric companies.
1% of them make things happen.4%watch what happens.95%wonder what happened. this is for real. thanks chris.

Let me know what you want to do in the Burgh... I already have the wheels in motion for that market because I love Pittsburgh, my Steelers, Pens and Pirates. Can't wait for the new Hockey arena... very exciting with Sid the Kid and Malken.

Please contact me directly... all my contact info is at the bottom of the "Quick Summary" located at my profile page.
