I have been a part of the welcome wagon since Aug. I am noticing that many new members are not first looking on the home pg to see where we are at at this point in time, they are login into disc that started eons ago? They are not reading the gazillion posts, and to me are stirring up muddy water that was pretty much put to bed.
I'm afraid that we are almost becoming a turn off from the get go!
The new members are being hit with the neg from things that do not really apply now. I think this site is at a turning point.
We have a hundreds of groups that are addressing most everything under the sun.~~ Our purpose now should be just to give people update info, opportunities to participate, groups to join and only then allow some disc within the the specific group.
This would free up more time for a bunch of members who are scanning the site to moderate. They could then focus on getting the word out via the blogs and news stories.
The following are Posts I copied, this is just a tip of the ice-burg of the crap we are dealing with.
After I found out Mr. Pickens involvement in swift boating John Kerry, I wanted nothing more to do with his plan. Mr. Pickens was wrong in defaming Mr. Kerry and supporting W. for President. Alternative energy has been a long time concern of the democrats and certaintly wasn't a concern of W. It appears to me that he shamefully destroyed a fine American who would have supported his plan for the sake of another "oil man". I support the need for alternative energy sources but not the messenger. Charlie Matthews
Mr. Barley, everyone is entitled to their political views and this is a free country. My objections are not with the message but with the messenger. Mr. Boone invested over 2 million dollars in attack ads, attacking Sen. Kerry. The 527 groups that he supported used lies and twisted truths. As a Viet Nam veteran I am very resentful of Mr. Boones' support of such a deceptive ad campaigne.
am a big Pickens plan supporter. Nothing would thrill me more than seeing America end it's dependance on Foreign oil. I have watched Pickens repeatedley in interviews and I don't understand one comment he keeps making. He keeps saying don't convert cars and he doesn't want the "car" angle of the CNG part of the plan. He only seems to be concerned with big trucks. Now the other day, he gave a little more info by saying that you we need the CNG to power trucks that you can't get down the road using batteries. But why does he over and over again discourage cars & car conversions? What would the harm be if the cars took the lead in this effort?
He lives on in the name of Newt Gingrich. Just took over as the new head of the Republican re-buuilding effort.
Can't the Republicans find some better than Newt Gingrich? How about Sarah Palin? On the other hand Newt may be a better choice. Seriously why not turn the reins over to (excuse my spelling) Govenor Pawlently of Minnesota or Govenor Jihlad of Louisanna. Then again being a Democrat/Liberal Keeping Newt or Sarah in charge can only prolong the lefts hold on the Presidency and Congress. Acutally it would be fun to have Newt running the show or better yet running for President. Think of it having the 3 timed married Congressman who has all but abandoned one of his kids who has severe medical problems or better yet seeing him scream for President Clinton's head while he was having a marital affair of his own. I remeber a T.V. show on years ago produced my Michael Moore called T.V. nation in which Moore traveled to Gingrich Congessional District and showed he had major pork barrel spending going on why he was calling for Democrats to cut spending. Yes,Yes lets bring on Newt. For some reason I never hear any of Newts past being aired on Fox News, Plent of Clinton's past indiscretions but none of Newts????
I've read all about it, funny no one can agree on the top 1%, Its like saying Global Warming is a completely sound theory, even though half the scientists now have withdrawn most of their claims about it. (Half of the scientists in Al Gore's movie anyway, including the top name he used...).
Seems most demographic and socio-economic experts, not reading just the left press Ray, seems to think most of the wealth is in the top 17% of the country, not the one.
When put on the spot about that, even the ex-chief of Sachs agreed too.
I don't like how excessive de-regulation has screwed up a lot of abuses over on majority-America Ray, but that is not Ronald Regan's legacy. I consider that a crafted lie.
His mainstream economy and foriegn policy was tops in close to historical marks, and the nasty abuses of personally-benefitting de-regulation did not even begin until Bush Senior was out of office.
I didn't. And frankly was shocked this morning to see TBoone say he was for nuclear power plants. The wind mills are symbols of renewable. The $6.00 a decatherm price of NG will not last. We've been down this road before. Why not show a reactor cooling stack as the symbol of this plan? TBoone needs to retract his support for Nuclear Power Plants as a solution to our electrical energy needs. Lets stick with the renewable energy that made this plan popular and is going to power our future.
I have addressed my concern to reg ldr and a few inner contacts. Just thoughts. Tom

I have a developer in CT who wants to conduct a feasibility study for a wind farm on a former landfill. The landfill is primarily concrete and concrete products and absolutely no chemicals. If anyone could steer me towards a wind power contractor in the Northeast I would be greatful.

when you speak of political partisanship you should stress the fact that just because you are registered with one party does not mean you have to support only that party people should think about what is said and then vote not just vote for a party.....sen mccain states that the first thing he will do after being elected is to build 54 nuclear reactor plants to produce energy at a cost of 32 billion dollars each how is that supporting the pickens plan???? just what we do not need is spending more money on an energy producing idea that will cause more waste to have to be disposed of this is silly and stupid why do you want someone to build waste producing plants when we have the wind and sun?????? pickens plan is a step in the right direction not a step backwards
Are there any plans to push for help for citizens to convert their current cars to Natural Gas. I have looked into it as well as a Phil station and started saving and then the bottom fell out of the financial market, my husband is now not working and we have a sick child. It isn't in the cards now but we hate pumping gas into a vehicle that gets horrible mileage and no one wants to buy it. Instead of handing the financial institutions all the money, is there any push to put some of it into the hands of the little people to do the right thing for the country and the future?
Need to know how many acres are needed for 'windmill's'. What would be needed to generate power for a community, and what the zoning requirement's would be to erect windmill's. Cost as well.
Thanks,
David Boeggeman
Is alternative energy sources developement going to be large enough in scope and intensity to pull the U.S. and maybe the world economy out of the mess we are now in?
I left my career as a bureaucrat for about 7 years during the 80's. Got a job as a plant worker in the Permian Basin. By 1987 (This was caused by the Reagan-Bush admin)., I saw about 15 plants left out of 135. WE were somewhere at 50% imported energy. Never had I been involved in such a stupid plan. Walked the streets of Odessa knocking on doors but could not get a dishwashers job. We lost all we had and I returned to law enforcement. Still don't understand why we have no viable energy plan. Its probably to late for me to benefit but I have children and granchildren and I don't want them to ever go through what I did.
One of the many reasons health care cost continue to grow is the cost of heating and cooling the dwellings. I am a 30 year veteran in the health care field. I have spent the last twenty years as an adminitstrator. Today as the administrataor a of skilled care, assisted living, independent living and a child development center all on one campus the cost of natural gas and traditional electrical service has increased by leaps. The thought of having our not for profit business lead the way in wind energy to produce the necessary energy we need and then to sell off the excess may be the answer to reducing the cost of long term care and improving the child to staff ratios for the children in our development center. How could www.urcpp.com make themselves available for a pilot program? To lead in some small way could be a big step in reducing expenses for the young parents and elders that are served all over our country
As I started to watch all of the political debates and their pushing their ideas onto all of us, at times I felt like I wanted to reach into the TV and grab them by the neck and tell them for once just stop the lies. This Plan of yours is the only positive thing that I've heard sense I waas a child. The fact that needs to be kept in the forefront is the fact of all the wasted spending that goes on. It happens right in every town that we all live in. Every county building probably wastes thousands of dollars each day. I know this asa fact because I watched it with my own eyes.
Mr. Pickens, Sir, please use my full name and address if you go to the congress with my complaint here, or question rather, and on my behalf, please ask them why they screamed about how deadly our future would have been if we didn't allow them to pass that 700billion dollar bailout package, but yet, not even two weeks later that AIG firm is now bringing back one of their money management people, just to pay him 1Million Dollars EACH MONTH? How the hell is this going to aid in our country being plucked out from under this Corrupt Mess that They Themselves got us into? Also, I would like to know how many more cash robbery scams do they have planned with all that money, hoping that all of us so-called blue-collar nobodies won't even catch onto? Can we also Sir, as a blue-collar group of concerned workers, go to, and ask them, "The FBI" to investigate any and all of these outrageous pay offs such as this guy getting this 1million a month. I believe this bailout was just another robbery act buy the very people who got us to this point, that they had laid out to gain from and then be on their way. I also believe this goes all the way up to bushes desk. As sure as I have a scar on my spine, this will be found to go all the way up to the top...
Please, confront those no........... about that 1million a month pay off and ask how that helps our country, and why suddenly two weeks after the bailout went through? Bush, maybe? I'll shut up here and get some sleep before I lose it...
One more... Ask them how in the world they can feel right about giving one dollar let alone one billion to a country, who will automatically turn around and fund the very people who are KILLING all of our men and women in Iraq? How the Hell do they sleep at night?
Democrats and Republicans have an equal record on government policy -- unqualified failure on all great matters regarding the public interest , as opposed to the interests of the political class.
This malign equality began in 1969 when Richard Nixon refused to conduct in-depth study of Lyndon Johnson's Great Society program failure. In this way Nixon subtracted policy success from political success, leaving only getting elected as the defining principle in politics.
Instead of laying the basis for the development of alternative program development that could succeed in the real world, Nixon merely hired Great Society officials, like Daniel Patrick Moynihan. Most of them had grown up as New Deal socialists; now as career opportunists, they became what we call today "Neoconservatives." They specialize in holding office without having the positive knowledge necessary to develop successful policy. In place of this positive knowledge, they claim that the free market works as the invisible finger of God, sufficient for all policy.
The results now loom before us.
In the 2008 election the Nixon legacy of equal party failure means that neither party can appeal to voters based on a record of success. They must resort to negativity.
For this reason, the political class has made a great study of appealing to voters based on temperament.
Voters no longer look for records of success, nor even real ideas based on claims that can be either proved or disproved in the real world.
Rather, each party has its own set of hot buttons to push, to excite voters and distract them from thinking.
This departure from reality can continue for only so long, until finally the gap becomes so great as to create uncontrollable crises, for example the present financial meltdown.
For America, the way back to political parties competing on records of success begins from the bottom up, from The People, with whom our government first began in 1776.
The Pickens Plan represents a major step forward in that direction. Mr. Pickens may not be your average American, but he certainly recognizes in a Jeffersonian sense that we are all created equal, and from the start the Pickens Plan has operated openly to all Americans.
Let us put aside temperament, and temper tantrums on blogs, and do some real work for the Pickens Plan, generating support in putting forth some real effort, for example, knocking on doors and explaining the ideas to people who don't yet know about it.
You will know when you have succeeded when the candidates begin referring, item by item, to the Pickens Plan. Till then, don't stop working at it.
How can each of us immediately sacrifice for the good of the country? Imagine the chagrin, outrage, yet respect for underlying wisdom in the candidate who advanced, even in these tough economic hours, raising the federal tax on gasoline by $.50 a gallon, those funds to be directed to a subcabinet agency headed by Boone Pickens and whose mandate would be to fund and find new energy sources. $.50 would lower consumption, and we all will agree Americans, despite the recent high gas prices, still drive more than they need. Much travel, even to the grocery store, is from poor planning.
Mr. Pickens:
We need to move away from grain based ethanol and to sugar cane based alcohol that has a (10 gallon produced) from (1 gallon used) ratio. Then switch cars to flex fuel like Brazil. Also CNG cars and stations would help greatly since it is abundant in America. With your wind power and nuclear power plants, the energy crisis would gradually disappear.
We can make a difference with our dollars. If we can somehow figure out which companies are working toward a renewable energy future, we can investe in them- assisting them in their economic strength and improving ours. Otherwise its all talk.
If all fossil fuels and their derivatives, as well as trees for paper and construction, were banned in order to save the planet, reverse the Greenhouse Effect and stop deforestation; then there is only one known annually renewable natural resource that is capable of providing the overall majority of the world's paper and textiles; meet all of the world's transportation, industrial and home energy needs, while simultaneously reducing pollution, rebuilding the soil and cleaning the atmosphere all at the same time...and that substance is the same one that has done it before . . . Cannabis
