Not buying it Farrelly. I just don't think baiting generation Y with music truly serves our country. What's the first thing Nicole mentioned in this video? Has it ever really worked before? This is not a party; dudes ! And a teachers job is to educate students using ideas from BOTH sides of the table; NOT just pushing their own agenda. We have plenty of politicians with greasy hands for that. Having the folks of tomorrow involved now is certainly important, but catering to their juvenile desires sends the wrong message. Why do some America find it so important to rally kids just a few years beyond puberty anyway? Is it because the are easily persuaded. Yet folks who have put their very lives on the line for this country are sometimes not considered to be good candidates for leadership. I don't think all this was the way our founding fathers would have wanted it.

Hi Scott, thanks for your commentary. And, as an Educator and Teacher I have to say you are absolutely right about people who have put their lives on the line and coming under fire, these would be the best candidates, but they have a hell of a time trying to get support when making a run for political office, rather than the reality that most people do vote for the shallow political machine offspring , that is all I am going to say about that.
In regards to Generation Y voters, surprisingly they have responded to the Obama campaign, yes they put down their iPods, and Latte's for a momentary reprieve from their short sound bite attention spans, and some of them even bothered to register to vote at this event. Like you, I realize the modern generation of kids is not really able to conceptualize Our Nation, and the Freedoms with which it was envisioned during it's creation. They just don't get it, and I am wondering if they even care all that much sometimes, unless it directly impacts them in some way, then maybe they would consider it, albeit briefly. So, if politicians have to stoop to the level of attending a music/voter registration event to make students aware of the political process in an effort to shake them from their voter apathy, then at least we have planted the seed hopefully. In our District, we had a pathetic 19% voter turnout for the last election, which is abysmal. I think our Founding Fathers would have been disappointed in how things have turned out Today in respect to our modern political reality.People don't vote,Politicians do not care what the people say, they have their own agenda. That is why people who take a stand against the existing and admittedly corrupt two party political machines never get elected to office. But, I like a good fight, and I never back down to a challenge, so I of course I will not get the blessing of either of those two polical machines. But, at least I can use the podium to speak out in favor of alternative energy, against the currently held Dick Cheney/Enron incepted US energy Policy, and try to raise awareness to the fact that there is another path, and that path is one of Energy Independence and away from the traditionally accepted paradigm and way of doing things. Thanks for your feedback Scott, and keep em coming!
