Tai - education of the young is probably the most important thing we can do. We'll have generations of future environmentally aware youth doing what you’re doing now. I hope our automobile manufacturers follow suit with Toyota and starts providing more fuel efficient automobiles. There retooling now and I’m sure we will see some. What you are doing is and will help. Awareness is key to their success. Yes I want them to be successful. They really are the key to keeping America independent from Middle Eastern oil. Toyota has already helped North America keep jobs (36,000) and they are providing a fuel efficient HEV.

Walt, try www.cngprices.com fro the newest, and I belive best station locator for CNG stations. They also have www.altfuelprices.com for the other fuels...

You can also check out www.e85fuel.org for the NEVC's E85 station locator. I belive www.nbb.org has a biodiesel locator. The oldest station locator is with the DOE with the EERE program, check out the www.utahcleancities.org to find a link!

Thanks, Tai, for alerting me to your posting. Interesting numbers. Can you calculate the well-to-wheel CO2 emissions of the different choices? Also, can you guess about what the numbers would be for electricity? I suspect it would be about 2-4 cents/mile, and if from wind, zero CO2.

The gov't site for CNG stations is http://www.eere.energy.gov/afdc/stations/find_station.php though it doesn't give prices. We've been driving our Civic GX for more than a year. 30 mpg and $0.85/gal. Do the math, it's less than $0.03 a mile.

I think the turn is using the wind, or any changeable source, to make and store hydrogen. Then it is burned at night to produce electricity.
I know it must be stored as compressed liquid but I think it contains more eneregy per gallon than natural gas.

This is thought about conversion stations and locations. If we find a reasonably easy conversion "kit" for our vehicles.Then it will take off like wild. Every backyard mechanic, every DIY person will try,then as it really catches on then the Major box stores will be selling KITS and installing them also.. If the conversion is simple the the faster it grows.I see a time that companies like Sears,Walmart, K-marts not only sell Kits ,but either install them or contract with those that will.Pull in with a V-6 w/ gas and leave with a new NG engine or pull in to Walmart and in two hours have an electric car or Hydrgen car and don't think if hyrogen was the new fuel that Walmarts wouldn't be the first fuel supplier and Co-ops nation wide would carry and distribe the same.
