ISRAEL Battery swap out and Electric car , Cool idea A tech swaps at a station

Woody, a friend of mine turned me on to this today.

Israel is thinking outside the box. One big disadvantage to battery is recharge time. What if you drive up and a tech swaps in a charged on and then go on.

My friend in washington DC does not drive but a company has cars posted around town that you can rent by the HR. Similar in concept.

this is a great idea
while i'm sure ,they may question you if you have a 7 yr old battery and theyre handing out new ones...LOL... but in reality maybe you'd pay a subscription fee ala Netflix to be a member???
either way, intriguing...

I feel sorry for all the people who say "cant", as soon they say "cant" their brain stops trying to find a way to "can"...
Peace Ed, Kurt

Kurt I am with you more than you think....But yeah woody told me and I came back. But it shore gets rid of the issue with 1/3 renters I harp about.

Also it is just so out of the box yet simple.

The problem with battery swaps is the swap value. If I am swapping an old pack with very little life left in it for a newer pack with much more life left in it, how much am I charged?

I think battery swapping is a nice idea that will never happen...
we already have batteries that can be recharged in 30 mins to an hour and propel the vehicle about 100 miles.... top it off really good at night and you have a great low cost of transportation.. I think this would work great for most folks....

John that is nice 30 min 100 miles
Think they may get that down to 10 mins 150 miles.

I rent in a 3 story apt with no assigned space
That would be the best for me. I can't plug in at home or at work.

1/3 of the households rent. or in the city street parking is not assigned
I am impatient I want it in 10 mins or less. That is the CHANGE part how much will populace tolerate the change. or embrace accept change

30 min and 100 miles . Some or lots of people travel from PA to DC
100 miles won't do it. I used to drive that route .

I am not trying to shoot it, trying to look at all possible solutions for some niche areas.
That should be in the "PLAN" niche markets too.

People In general have muscle memory ie get out plug in drive away in 5 mins or less.
also the Lines will be long

CNG again looks fine. Now we just need a market , more fill stations, More drilling for Nat gas. CA and NY will be the test. That is what Honda told me.

then that leads us to the pipelines that move nat gas . they are congested just like the grid
No wonder I am tired. So every thing works all alternatives , need a full plan. Anybody finish it yet. 5000k pages , That will take a while. that gives the CNG a test in CA NY
I see some CNG and some electric that is why I like a lot of alternatives.

We know we can build towers for wind same for solar, we can build pipelines , transmission towers etc. all to be done in 10 years. In essence we need to see what the populace will accept. You can't sell something nobody wants. unless it is a mandate..not good. 10 years to turn over fleet or more. at least by then the amount of SUVs /truck will be less. so some less carbon.

DOES THE CONGRESS actually have a plan or adjusted plan ?

They had the guy that has started Project Better Place to provide electric cars in Israel on TV. He said that they are doing it on the cellphone model. You sign up for 4 years and buy the energy from them and they provide the car for free and do all the upkeep.
